Learn about the Decision Period

What is the decision period?

The decision period in the procurement process is the time between the closing of the bidding or Request for Proposals (RFP) submission and the final selection of the winning bidder or supplier. During this period, the Purchasing Department evaluates and compares all submitted bids or proposals based on predefined criteria outlined in the bid documents/folder.

How should I handle the decision period?

The Unified Government can sometimes take longer than anticipated to review a bid. Please be patient as we work diligently to process all accepted bids and RFPs.

Make sure to be careful about how and when you ask questions during this period. Any inquiries should be directed to the bid contact only.

I Lost a Bid. What’s Next?

Don’t be discouraged if you lose a contract or bid. The bid process is a great learning experience, and your business is now a known entity to UG departments and potential partners.

Requesting a formal debrief from the procurement team is a great way to receive feedback on your submission. The Kansas Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is another good resource to increase your odds of success on future bids.
